IC 4837

IC 4837
IC 4837

IC 4837 (top left with PGC 417432 below it) and IC 4839 the lower right spiral are part of a group of galaxies in Telescopium.
IC 4839 is approximately 127 million light years distant while IC 4837 is around 124 million light years from Earth.
The galaxy group has been rarely imaged. A study in 2000 by Neumann, Arnaud and Gastaud based on XMM Newton EPIC MOS data concluded there was evidence that this galaxy group was on its first infall onto the Coma Cluster.
Imaged in LRGB on our Planewave CDK 1000 at Observatorio El Sauce, Chile.
