NGC 6861

NGC 6861 is a very rarely imaged lenticular galaxy located 129 million light years away in the constellation Telescopium.
The galaxy is quite small in the field of view but has an interesting disk of dark dust bands at the center of the galaxy. The dust lanes are due to large clouds of dust obscuring the light of the stars behind them.

Imaged in LRGB on my Planewave CDK 1000 at Observatorio El Sauce, Chile.
