NGC 246

NGC 246 often termed the skull nebula is a planetary nebula 1600 light years away in Cetus.
It consists of a pair of closely bound stars orbited by a third outer star. The nebula is the remnant of a stellar explosion, which has now left behind a white dwarf star.
