The Seagull Nebula, also known as IC 2177 and Sh2-292 is an Emission Nebula with a small reflection nebula component VDB 93 in the Seagull’s head. It is located 3700 light years away at the junction of Monoceros and Canis Major.
The Nebula’s main components are three large gas clouds including Sharpless 2-296 (Sh2-296), which forms the ‘wings.
The nebula spans around 100 light-years.
