IC 4592 The Blue Horsehead Nebula (4 panel mosaic)
A very popular astrophotography object, The Blue Horse Head Nebula is a reflection nebula composed of very fine dust that would normally appear dark but glows blue when reflecting the light of high energy stars. The main source of the reflected light is a star at the eye of the horse. That star is part of Nu Scorpii, one of the brighter star systems toward the constellation Scorpius. A second reflection nebula IC 4601 is visible surrounding two stars to the right of the image center. The two reflection nebula are surrounded in dust.
