NGC 2149

Given the many better known nebulae nearby, NGC 2149 in Monoceros is often overlooked.
This is unfortunate as it is a rather spectacular region of space.
NGC 2149 is a relatively small reflection nebula 1300 light years away sitting in the midst of a massive cloud of cosmic dust. It spans approximately 1 light year and is around 3’ in the field of view.
