NGC 6872
Estimated to be between 220 and 300 million light years away NGC 6872 may also be the largest know spiral galaxy spanning an estimated 700,000 light years. NGC 6872 is also known as the Condor Galaxy, it is a large barred spiral galaxy of type SBb pec in the constellation Pavo. The galaxy is estimated to be around five billion years old. NGC 6872 is interacting with the lenticular galaxy IC 4970, which is less than one twelfth as large.
