The Dark Tower is a cometary globule in Scorpius. It consists of dust and molecular gas and spans 40 light years. The globule is shaped by intense ultraviolet radiation from the hot star cluster NGC 6231 which also powers the hydrogen gas surrounding the globule. Inside the globule is a small blue reflection nebula.
