RCW 85 is a rarely imaged H alpha emission nebula 6000 light years away in Centaurus. It is in star formation region SFR 313.41-0.35 and lies between alpha and Beta Centauri. The preponderance of H alpha and the intense red color have led to the nickname The Devils Tower.
