NGC 6188 is an emission nebula in Ara. It is often referred to as The Fighting Dragons.
The nebula spans around 600 light years and is situated 4000 light years from here. The area is a very active star forming region. Within the nebula is NGC 6193 an open cluster that is rapidly growing and is the cause of the glow within NGC 6188. The forms within the nebula are sculpted from gas and dust. The nebula itself is near the edge of a large molecular cloud that is not observable at visual wavelengths.
