Situated 67 million light years away in Lupus, NGC 5530 is an intermediate barred spiral galaxy. The galaxy is not imaged often but was the site of a supernova that appeared in 2007.
The galaxy has a bright central bulge and prominent dust lanes. There are numerous star forming regions evident in the arms.
Imaged in LRGB on our Planewave CDK 1000 at Observatorio El Sauce, Chile.
