NGC 2815

NGC 2815 is a barred spiral galaxy (SBb) located about 104 million light-years away in the constellation Hydra.
It has an apparent size of 3.5′ × 1.1′ and spans roughly 105,000 light-years across.
This galaxy has a moderate inclination, allowing a clear view of its central bar and tightly wound spiral arms.
Dark dust lanes are visible along the arms, especially near the core, contrasting against the brighter starlight.
The central region has a warmer, yellowish hue, indicating an older stellar population, while the outer spiral arms appear bluer, suggesting active star formation.
NGC 2815 is set against a rich background of distant galaxies, some of which appear as edge-on spirals or faint ellipticals.
