NGC 2417

NGC 2417 is despite being small in the apparent field of view, a large barred spiral galaxy spanning over 200,000 light years and is located 160 million light years away in the constellation of Carina.

The galaxy has well defined tightly wrapped arms in the central region.
Multiple star forming areas are clearly visible as are heavy dust lanes.

Imaged in LRGB on my Planewave CDK 1000 at Observatorio El Sauce, Chile.
