NGC 2280 is a large spiral galaxy located approximately 75 million light years away in Canis Major.
The galaxy is considered an analogue to the Milky Way as it is thought they share similar morphology.
The galaxy contains a bright central bulge and massive loosely wound spiral arms.
There are numerous star forming regions.
