NGC 2264 is a single catalog entry covering the Cone Nebula, The Fox Fur Nebula and the Christmas Tree Cluster. This iconic region is located 2500 light years away in Monoceros.
The area has been extremely popular in astrophotography with the bright emission nebulae being very prominent. There are also reflection nebulae components that are generally not seen in narrowband.
These two images were done in LRGB enhanced with Hydrogen Alpha, and SHO narrowband with RGB stars and RGB for the central reflection region. They highlight very different components of the region.
