NGC 1977 The Running Man Nebula
Not named after the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger film “The Running Man”.
NGC 1977 The Running Man Nebula, is a reflection nebula that can be found in the Orion constellation, 1,460 lightyears away. It often appears in images of The Orion Nebula but often is over looked in favor of the very dramatic Orion Nebula. This is unfortunate as Running Man is quite impressive in its own right.
The Nebula gained its name due to what looks like a human figure running with its arms in motion which is seen in the reddish portion at center.
