NGC 1559

NGC 1559 is a rarely imaged barred spiral galaxy 62 million light years away in the constellation of Reticulum.
The large spiral arms of the galaxy have numerous dense star formation regions, but in terms of mass is almost 100 times less than our own galaxy.
While originally thought to be part of the Dorado group of galaxies, NGC 1559 is a loner and is not part of any galaxy group or cluster.

Imaged in LRGB on my Planewave CDK 1000 at Observatorio El Sauce, Chile.
