NGC 1255 is a barred spiral galaxy located 74 million light years away in the constellation of Fornax.
The galaxy is compact with a high level of star formation and heavy dust lanes in the central region.
The galaxy shines at a magnitude of around 11.1 but is a low surface brightness galaxy with a surface brightness of only magnitude 22.9
