NGC 1179 is a low surface brightness (23.9 mag/arcsec) barred spiral galaxy 77 million light years away in the constellation Eridanus.
The spiral arms are mildly diffuse and exhibit multiple bright star forming regions.
There is a prominent nuclear bulge with many visible dust lanes running through the central region of the galaxy.
Imaged in LRGB on my Planewave CDK 1000 at Observatorio El Sauce, Chile.
