SH2-11 (NGC 6357)
A wide field image of the nebular region containing what is variously termed The War and Peace Nebula or the Lobster Nebula.
NGC 6357 is a diffuse nebula near NGC 6334 in the constellation Scorpius. The nebula contains many proto-stars shielded by dark discs of gas, and young stars wrapped in expanding “cocoons” or expanding gases surrounding these small stars.
The nebular regions covers a substantial area in the field of view and is a very popular southern hemisphere astrophotography subject.
