M30 is a dense globular cluster consisting of several hundred thousand stars. It is situated 27,000 light years away in the constellation of Capricornus.
Most of the stars are old but some older stars regenerate by siphoning hydrogen from binary companions or from collisions between two stars.
M30 is estimated to be around 13 billion years old.
