Not as flashy as its neighbor the Rho Ophiuchi complex, SH2-1 is a blue reflection nebula in Scorpius. The nebula is surrounded by a regions of Hydrogen Alpha emissions. Central to the image is VDB 99 which is illuminated by the bright star Pi Scorpius.
