Situated south of The Orion Nebula, this image is centered on NGC 1999 a small bright reflection nebula with an unusual key hole shaped void in the middle. The reflection nebula is surrounded by dusty material and swirls of hydrogen alpha gas and oxygen III gas against the backdrop of the surrounding star field.
