NGC 1042 is an intermediate barred spiral galaxy in Cetus. Based on redshift data from NED it is around 55 million light years distant. It may be interacting with NGC 1035 which is at a similar red shift distance.
At the lower left in the image is NGC 1048 which is 550 million light years away.
