NGC 7418 is an intermediate spiral galaxy 60 million light years away in Grus. It has been very rarely imaged and presents a very small target with an apparent field of view of 2×3’.
The galaxy has a bright nucleus with a bar with knotted inner arms transitioning to smooth on the outer portions.
It is thought that there is a black hole at the galaxy center.
Imaged in LRGB on our Planewave CDK 1000 at Observatorio El Sauce, Chile.
Image Processing: Mike Selby and Mark Hanson.
