NGC 3263 is a tidally disrupted galaxy located in Vela. It is part of a group with NGC 3256. The galaxy is relatively faint with a surface brightness of magnitude 13.9.
Red Shift calculations put NGC 3263 at around 140 million light years from Earth.
The galaxy spans only 3’ in apparent size. Seen above NGC 3263 is the barred lenticular galaxy NGC 3262 with an apparent size of 1’. It lies an estimated 130 million light years away.
Both galaxies are infrequently imaged.
