NGC 1672
NGC 1672 is a barred spiral galaxy located in the constellation Dorado approximately 60 million light years distant.
NGC 1672 is different from normal spiral galaxies, the arms do not twist all the way into the center; rather they are attached to the two ends of a straight bar of stars enclosing the nucleus. Viewed almost face on, NGC 1672 shows intense star formation regions particularly at the ends of its central bar.
There are numerous clusters of hot young blue stars along the spiral arms which ionize surrounding clouds of hydrogen gas that glow a reddish pink.
