NGC 4435 and NGC 4438 are listed as ARP 120 in the peculiar galaxy catalog. They are often colloquially referred to as The Eyes Galaxies and are located 52 million light years away in Virgo and are a strongly interacting galaxy pair.
NGC 4438 has long tidal tails and a heavily distorted disk and is transitional from spiral to lenticular.
NGC 4435 and 4438 are part of Markarian’s chain a number of the Markarian’s chain galaxies are contained within this image.
