Barnard 78

Barnard 78 often referred to as The Pipe Nebula (given its resemblance to a smoking pipe) is a dark nebula in the constellation of Ophiuchus.
It is a dust lane in the Milky Way that obscures our view of a number of stars.
The nebula is 500 light years away making it the closest known dark nebula to us.

Imaged in LRGB on my Planewave DR 350 at Observatorio El Sauce, Chile.
