NGC 2369

NGC 2369 is a large (possibly as much as 236,000 light years across) barred spiral galaxy located 162 million light years away in the constellation of Carina.

Given the distance however it is small in our apparent field of view.

The galaxy is classified as an early spiral which counter intuitively means it is older in its development.

NGC 2369 is listed as a luminous infrared galaxy

NGC 2369 is quite faint at magnitude 12.2 and has a surface brightness of only magnitude 23.6.

Imaged in LRGB on my Planewave CDK 1000 at Observatorio El Sauce, Chile.
