Hickson Compact Galaxy Group 21 is situated in the constellation of Eridanus 351 million light years away.
At the top of the image is the spiral galaxy NGC 1099, to its left is the elliptical galaxy NGC 1098 and to the right is the spiral galaxy NGC 1100.
At the bottom are the spiral galaxy 1091 and the lenticular galaxy NGC 1092.
Numerous distant galaxies are visible in the background.
The was considerable color extinction possibly due to both distance and galactic dust.
