NGC 3256

100 million light years from here in Vela, NGC 3256 is a peculiar galaxy that was formed from the merger of two galaxies. The merger left a highly distorted appearance.
NGC 3256 has not been imaged often as it is quite small in the field of view.
Imaged in LRGB on our PlaneWave CDK 1000 (luminance( and PlaneWave CDK 700 (RGB) at Observatorio El Sauce, Chile.
Image Processing: Mike Selby
