NGC 6300

NGC 6300 is a barred. Spiral Seyfert Galaxy located 50 million light years away in Ara.
An interesting feature is the complex arm structure which has created a ring of very active star formation. The nucleus is partly obscured by a very prominent dust lane. The galaxy it self is set behind a dense star field from our own Milky Way Galaxy.
Imaged in LRGB on our PlaneWave CDK 1000 at Observatorio El Sauce, Chile.
Integration Time: 25 hours
Image Processing: Mike Selby
