M 101 The Northern Pinwheel
M101 often referred to as the Northern Pinwheel Galaxy is a large face on spiral galaxy located 22 million light years from here.
The galaxy is a very popular target for astrophotographers, few galaxies have been imaged more often. It is surprisingly difficult to do the image processing due to the surface brightness.
Imaged in LRGB at SRO, OTA CDK 14 Integration time 22 hours
Image Processing: Mike Selby
