NGC 5850 is an early type spiral galaxy classified as LINER, it is considered a prototype double barred system. The galaxy is a disrupted spiral in that is is likely to have had a high speed encounter with NGC 5850 a massive elliptical galaxy which is partly seen in the top right of the frame.
NGC 5850 is in Virgo and is estimated to be 110 million light years from here.
